Ron Harper Jr. celebrated younger brother Dylan Harper's dominant Rutgers debut that saw the latter score the most points by a freshman Scarlet Knight in 52 years. He had a two-word reaction to his brother's feat.
Dylan, 18, a top combo guard recruit from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, had all-around numbers of 20 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals in their 75-52 victory over Wagner on Wednesday. His total point output was the highest by a Rutgers rookie in his debut game since Phil Sellers scored 30 points in his maiden outing in November 1972.
Harper, who also starred for Rutgers between 2018 to 2021, was excited for what his brother had accomplished. He shared Rutgers' Instagram post for his younger brother:

Dylan Harper was one of two top freshman recruits by Rutgers, the other being forward Ace Bailey. Their arrival has pushed the Scarlet Knights to No. 25 in the collegiate rankings for the 2024-25 season.
Dylan will hope to follow in the footsteps of Harper, who played in the NBA for two years with the Toronto Raptors after college. Harper is now in the G League with the Maine Celtics.
The two are the sons of Ron Harper Sr., an All-American college player at Miami (Ohio) who played in the NBA for 15 seasons, winning five titles with the Chicago Bulls and LA Lakers.

NBA legend Ron Harper's son Dylan Harper was ecstatic after his explosive debut for Rutgers.
Dylan recounted growing up watching older brother Ron Harper Jr. star for the team, calling it a "dream come true" to have gotten the opportunity to join Rutgers.
The freshman sensation said (via Fox Sports New Jersey):
"It was a dream come true, to be honest. I remember coming here when I was little, watching my brother and all the other guys play. Now getting my chance to play in front of this crowd, in front of the Riot Squad, it is crazy and honestly a blessing."
Dylan Harper was a top recruit out of high school in New Jersey and experts expect him to give Duke's Cooper Flagg a run for his money as a possible top overall pick in the NBA draft next year.
Rutgers next play on Monday against the Saint Peter's Peacocks also at home..
