Rutgers basketball has not had much to cheer about over the last three decades, but the arrival of freshman Dylan Harper, son of Ron Harper, has brought a level of excitement and optimism.
On Monday, the highly rated guard had another stellar outing against Colombia, leading the Scarlet Knights to their eighth win of the season. It turned out to be a historic night for Dylan Harper, who finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists to become the first Rutgers players in 41 years to record a triple-double.
Following the monumental feat, the 18-year-old rising star was praised by his older brother, Ron Harper Jr., with a heartfelt post on social media.
Harper Jr., who was also a star athlete at Rutgers, and played with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA, shared an image of Dylan after he secured the triple-double. He also showed some love for his younger brother with a clever one-liner.

"Messed around & had a triple-double," wrote Harper Jr.
The line is taken from Ice Cube's classic early-90s track, "It was a good day." Harper Jr. even added the song in the background to accompany his Instagram story.
Dylan Harper may have only played 13 games at the collegiate level, but the highly rated prospect is already making a name for himself.
Harper has recorded 20 or more points in 10 of his 13 games. The New Jersey native finished with a game-high 36 points against Notre Dame in November, and followed that up with a 37-point performance the following day against a top-ranked Alabama team.
Against Seton Hall on Dec. 14, he drilled a last-minute game-winner to give his team a memorable win against their in-state rivals.
Dylan Harper was the highest-ranked recruit in Rutgers history, and he has not disappointed. The versatile guard is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NBA draft.
