The LA Lakers are the center of attention as the trade deadline nears. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and JJ Redick have all been vocal about the team's needs. A statement 117-96 win on Thursday against long-time rivals and defending champions, the Boston Celtics, has further pressured Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and GM Rob Pelinka to spend big.
Amid the team's reported stance on preserving the picks, NBA analyst Jason Timpf has advocated for the Lakers to go all-in on a championship pursuit with time running out on the LeBron James-Anthony Davis era.
"Do everything in your power to give these guys what they need to fight, or be done with this," Timpf said on his podcast, "Hoops Tonight" on Friday.
Timpf's comments came after James and Davis backed their public demands by showing out in the team's thumping win over Boston. Right before the game, Davis' interview with ESPN's Shams Charania dropped, where the Lakers star claimed he feels LA is a move or two away and could thrive if it gets a reliable big man.

Jason Timpf doubled down on his case to push the Lakers to go all-in, as he wrote in a separate tweet:
"It’s time for Rob [Pelinka] and Jeanie [Buss] to s*** or get off the pot."
The $700 million Lakers owner has been heavily criticized over the past few seasons over her decision-making and front-office decisions. Most of it has stemmed from LA's quiet activity on the trade and free agency front since the last trade deadline and a slew of mediocre acquisitions in the 2023 free agency, which haven't worked out.

NBA Trade Rumors: Rob Pelinka and Lakers prioritize adding a center
Rob Pelinka and the Lakers executives seem to have heard their stars and coach loud and clear. After Anthony Davis went public with his demand for roster moves and LeBron James raised concerns about playing with no room for error because of the team's build, the latest reports from insider Anthony Irwin suggest LA has prioritized making a big-man move.
"Sources close to the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity, say the Lakers have heard him loud and clear and plan to add a center before the trade deadline in less than two weeks," Irwin wrote.
"It's at the top of their list of priorities, which also includes more perimeter toughness defensively, a guard to help with the second unit, and adding more physicality anywhere they can find it."
The Lakers have been linked with multiple centers, including Nikola Vucevic, Walker Kessler, Robert Williams III and Day'Ron Sharpe.
