The San Antonio Spurs visited the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center on Monday night as part of the NBA's 14-game slate. The Spurs were looking to extend their winning streak to three games, while the Sixers were coming off a blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Tyrese Maxey carried the Sixers to a 111-106 win after Joel Embiid was ejected in the second quarter. Maxey came up clutch and finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals. He scored 10 of his 32 points down the stretch to beat the Spurs.
Embiid had nine points, three rebounds and two steals when he was ejected for arguing an offensive foul call. He was so upset that the Sixers coaching staff had trouble getting him off the court and into the locker room.

On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama had another monster game for the Spurs with 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists and eight blocks. Stephon Castle had 17 points off the bench, but was limited to just 14 minutes of game time. Jeremy Sochan, Julian Champagnie and Devin Vassell all scored 15 points each.

In the first quarter, Joel Embiid started the game by attacking the basket and getting fouled. Embiid went to the free throw line and knocked down two free throws to set the tone. The two teams struggled shooting the ball for the rest of the period, exchanging leads with the Spurs up 20-18 after the first 12 minutes.
Victor Wembanyama's defense was on full display with seven blocks in the first half. Embiid was ejected with three minutes left in the second quarter after being called for two technical fouls. Nevertheless, the Sixers have a 48-45 lead at the half.
The Philadelphia 76ers turned it up in the third quarter, building a 15-point lead despite not having their best player on the floor. The San Antonio Spurs kept themselves within striking distance heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, the Spurs were able to get back into the game with a furious rally. They got the lead midway through the period before Tyrese Maxey took over and scored 10 points in the final five minutes to give the Sixers the 111-106 victory.
Philly improved to 10-17 for the season, while the Spurs dropped to 15-14. Both teams will be back in action on Christmas, with the Sixers facing the Boston Celtics at TD Garden while San Antonio takes the spotlight at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.
