NBA legend Scottie Pippen was met with criticism following his "tone-deaf" tweet about realizing the value of money. Some fans are not happy with Pippen since he allegedly scammed a lot of people using cryptocurrency as a front. The legend has been in the spotlight over the past few years due to his feud with Michael Jordan and his ex-wife subsequently dating his ex-teammate's son.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Chicago Bulls great urged his followers to stay humble and find the real value of money. It's something to think about given the rumors of Pippen's frugality during his playing days and bad investments in his post-NBA career.

"As you get older, you’ll realize that a $30,000 watch and a $30 watch both tell the same time. A Gucci wallet and a Target wallet hold the same amount of money. A $10,000,000 house and a $100,000 house host the same loneliness. A Ford will also drive you as far as a Bentley. True happiness is not found in materialistic things, it comes from the love and laughter found with each other. Stay humble… the holes dug for us in the ground are all the same size," Pippen tweeted.

Even though Scottie Pippen's advice could help some people, some fans are using past allegations of crypto scamming to call out the six-time NBA champion. Pippen was reportedly scamming investors with his Game 5 real-world asset after his team withdrew $330,000 from the project's wallet, causing its price to go down by 96.0%.

"You scammed crypto nerds out of millions...well struck," a fan wrote.
"Why u scam the crypto community then? If $ doesnt matter?" one fan asked.
"Delete your account man. I'm sick of these kinda tweets from 'Scottie Pippen'," another fan commented.

In addition to the Game 5 ball token scam, Scottie Pippen was also allegedly involved in an NFT scam in 2022, as per Bitcoinist. Pippen launched an NFT collection on OpenSea but it was abandoned immediately. Fans were supposed to win sneakers but it never happened.

"That's why you rugged your crypto token? To buy more Target wallets?" a fan asked.
"Pippen are you going to send me all the money I lost on your rug of a coin?" one fan questioned.
"Did this account get sold? I thought it was just for rugging fans," another fan remarked.

Pippen recently tweeted about being "bullish on Bitcoin" and using the BeLikeSatoshi hashtag. It refers to Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym used by Bitcoin's creator.

Scottie Pippen once said he wants Michael Jordan's bank account

In an interview with Sports Illustrated back in 1992, Scottie Pippen was asked if he wanted to be Michael Jordan. Pippen didn't mind being Jordan for just a day or two although he jokingly said that he prefers having MJ's bank account.

"I'd like his bank account. I suppose I wouldn't mind being him for a day, or maybe a couple of days," Pippen said.

Pippen's relationship with Jordan seemingly deteriorated after the release of "The Last Dance" docuseries in 2020. It further took a hit when MJ's son Marcus began dating Pippen's ex-wife Larsa.
