All about Glen Davis' 40-month prison sentence
Glenn Davis, one of 18 other former NBA players who were indicted in an NBA healthcare fraud has been sentenced to 40 months in prison. The former Boston Celtics player was involved in a defraud that tried to illegally obtain almost $4 million from the NBA through healthcare benefits.
According to CNN, former NBA player Terrence Williams was the "ring leader" of the group that was involved in the fraud. After Williams pleaded guilty in 2022, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence also involved a 3-year supervised release.
The players involved in the fraud, including Davis, tried to claim between $65,000 and $420,000 each. The former NBA player was distraught during the hearing process. Before Glen Davis was handed the sentence, he pleaded to the judge to help him get himself back.
"When I lost basketball, I lost myself," Davis pleaded. "I ask you, your honor, to help me get back to who I am."
Glen Davis was selected 35th overall by the Seattle Supersonics in the 2007 NBA Draft. He won his first and only title in 2008 with the Celtics.
