Adrian Wojnarowski leaves NBA report for college basketball GM job
Adrian Wojnarowski said in his retirement announcement that he was 'heading back' to his home team. Shortly after his post went live, reports surfaced on what his life will be like now that his NBA reporting is done.
Woj is reportedly taking a job with St. Bonaventure as the general manager of their men's basketball program after retiring from ESPN. This is like a homecoming, as the longtime reporter graduated from the University in the early 1990s.
Woj said he's excited to return to a place he has a strong connection with while discussing the move.
"It is a thrill of a lifetime to be able to return to a university and community that I love in a role of service to our student-athletes, coaches and institution," Wojnarowski told ESPN on Wednesday.
"I am hopeful that I can bring value in a lot of areas to our basketball program and open doors for our young men's futures in ways both professionally and personally."
The NBA newsbreaker also gave a shout-out to his now-former employer. Woj had nothing but nice things to say about ESPN and the opportunity it gave him to cover professional basketball.
"I am retiring from a dream job at ESPN and am so incredibly grateful for my time and experiences with the World Wide Leader," he said.
After reporting about the pros for so long, Woj will now be helping college athletes achieve their goal of reaching the league.
