The 2024 NBA Finals does not feature the LA Lakers or LeBron James but the four-time NBA champion is still dominating the headlines. LeBron ended up becoming the topic of discussion on the Jun. 6 episode of NBA Today after Kendrick Perkins berated the Lakers star for the comments he made about Kyrie Irving.
After Perkins' criticism of LeBron, the Lakers star made the decision to unfollow the former Boston Celtics champion on social media, a decision that caught the attention of NBA fans.

Kendrick Perkins is one of the most vocal analysts on ESPN and he showed that once more when he criticized LeBron James for daring to utter Kyrie Irving's name.
Perkins accused LeBron of finding a way to make the NBA Finals about him when he isn't even included. Something that clearly upset Irving's former Cleveland Cavaliers running mate.
What did LeBron James say about Kyrie Irving that drew the ire of Kendrick Perkins?
During the Jun. 5 episode of the 'Mind the Game' podcast, JJ Redick asked LeBron James about the latter's former running mate on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving.
Redick started by asking LeBron what his favorite thing about Kyrie. LeBron responded by showering the Dallas Mavericks guard with praise while also admitting that he is mad that they are no longer playing on the same team.
LeBron then reminisced on what it was like to have Irving on his side before talking about his string of impressive performances in this year's postseason.
This led to members of the media asking Irving about the comments which in turn reached the NBA Today crew with Kendrick Perkins, Richard Jefferson and Malika Andrews.
Obviously, Perkins was unimpressed with how LeBron talked about his former teammate because he accused the four-time MVP of "weaseling his way" into the limelight.
Jefferson, who was a member of the Cavs squad that won the 2016 title with LeBron and Kyrie jumped to the former's defense by saying that he was simply expressing how much he missed his former teammate and that LeBron was of course happy for Irving for making the NBA Finals.
Kendrick Perkins is yet to comment on LeBron James' decision to unfollow him on social media.
