NBA fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to compare Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin on Saturday. The comparisons began after the latter's team collapsed at the end of the season and was eliminated from the playoffs against the Baltimore Ravens.

Doc Rivers an NBA Champion head coach has faced similar issues in the past with his teams. In his first season in Los Angeles when he led the Clippers to a franchise record of 57 wins, Rivers and the Clippers lost in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter), compared the two coaches and a Lakers fan account even posted an AI-generated photograph of Rivers in a Steelers tracksuit. The account - LakeShowYo' shared the picture on X and added a crying emoji in the tweet.

"So damn accurate," one fan replied to the post
"Lol yes," another fan wrote.
"LOL THIS IS PERFECT! For real tho they gotta fire TOMLIN," one X user commented.

Although many were amused at the comparison, not everyone agreed with it.

"Doc is always underachieving. Tomlin is overachieving, this team would not be in the playoffs without him," a fan wrote.
"THIS WAS SUCH A FUNNY TWEET OMG LOVE THIS CONTENT. Jus kidding shut yo stupid lookin a** up," one X user said.

The exit to Baltimore in the wildcard game of the playoffs means that the Steelers have never advanced past the first round of the NFL playoffs since 2017. Doc Rivers has not advanced past the second round of the NBA playoffs ever since his Boston side reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2012.

Another striking similarity between Rivers and Tomlin is that both men have guided a side to a title once in their career. The former led the Boston Celtics to the NBA crown in 2008 while Tomlin led the Steelers to a Super Bowl title a year later.

Doc Rivers' postseason struggles

Despite leading the Boston Celtics to two NBA Finals and an Eastern Conference Final in nine seasons, Many have taken note of Doc Rivers's post-season failures as he has struggled in the playoffs ever since he left the Celtics in 2013.

Traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2015 NBA first-round draft pick from the Celtics, Rivers was supposed to be the person to take the Clippers to the promised land. Although he did build one of the greatest squads in Clipper's history, Rivers never reached the Conference Finals let alone the NBA Finals with them.

Making six playoff appearances in his seven seasons there, the former Atlanta Hawks player led the Clippers to three second-round and three first-round exits. After his contract with the Clippers expired Rivers signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.

In his three seasons in Philly, Rivers led the team to playoff appearances but exited all three times in the conference semi-finals. Currently, with the Milwaukee Bucks the former Celtics head coach exited the playoffs in the first round last year.
