Former LA Lakers teammates Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis were caught trash-talking to each other on Saturday. The Lakers had a 127-102 loss against the Denver Nuggets over the weekend. During the game, Westbrook had a decent night off the bench and had a 14-point, 11-assist double-double.
Fans eagerly awaited Westbrook's game at the Crypto.com Arena because he was once a member of the Lakers. There's history between the nine-time All-Star and the LeBron James-led squad. During the star point guard's time with the franchise, he was often criticized for his inconsistencies.
Against Los Angeles, Westbrook put on a vintage performance to help Denver capture the win. However, eagle-eyed fans caught the small interactions he had with Davis. In one play, the 2017 MPV fouled James and the All-Star big man talked trash to him.
At that moment, AD, on the bench, instructed Westbrook to "stop fouling." However, the point guard chirped back and said:

"Soft a** n***a. You're soft."
The two former teammates kept saying the same thing to each other as James was taking his free throws.
Shortly after, Westbrook shot a 3-pointer, leading to his now famous moment where he said:
"Boom, b***h," the Nuggets guard said as he taunted the Laker crowd.
"What the f**k are they gonna say now?"
After Westbrook hit his only shot from deep, he told fans to "go home," as the Lakers called a timeout.
During his two seasons with the Lakers, the dynamic point guard averaged 17.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 7.2 assists. During the 2022–2023 season, his second season with the team, Westbrook began to come off the bench. The front staff traded him to the LA Clippers, their rival team, that same season.
In the 2024-25 season, the nine-time All-NBA has found a new home with the Nuggets. Westbrook has taken on a sixth-man role for Denver, averaging 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists.
Davis had high praise for Russell Westbrook after their game
Even though they argue verbally during the game, Davis still likes and respects Russell Westbrook. Following the game, the former Kentucky standout spoke highly of Westbrook in front of reporters.
"I mean, just for their team, he brings that energy,” Davis said. “You know how Russ plays; he plays hard and made some shots and some steals. You play how Russ plays; I’m pretty sure those guys know the history with us and probably amped him up a little bit more."
The next time the two teams will play against each other will be on February 22, 2025, at the Ball Arena. Overall, they will play one another four times throughout the regular season.
