Victor Wembanyama is having an incredible sophomore season in the NBA. Despite having a standout December, Wembanyama was overlooked for Defensive Player of the Month for his conference, a situation that irked many fans on social media.

Memphis Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Jr., who has a base salary of $25,257,798 this season (per Spotrac), was named the Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month.

When the award was announced on X (formerly Twitter), fans jumped on the thread to share their thoughts.

"What a joke," a fan said.

More fans felt that the reigning Rookie of the Year was unjustly ignored.

"so @nba are we just supposed to forget everything @wemby did in December?," a fan tweeted.
"The wemby hate is insanely forced," another fan added.
"I see this is already turning into the “Anybody but Wemby” award. The “We can’t give it to him every time” award. The “Wink wink IYKYK” award," another fan commented.

The decision reminded other fans that he was denied last season's Defensive Player of the Year award to countryman and Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert.

"Lol Wemby got robbed. He has better stats all around," a fan tweeted.
"This is a joke. Wemby is the unanimous winner of this award, no one else is close," another fan wrote.

Wembanyama averaged 28.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 4.4 blocks and 0.7 steals in December.

His impressive performance in December saw him climb into the top five spots in the MVP rankings. He is averaging 25.6 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 3.9 apg and 3.9 bpg this season.
