Led by an emerging superstar in Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs are in an interesting position regarding the trade market. As the rumor mill starts to heat up, one analyst gave his thoughts on a big splash they should make.
Typically, franchises slowly build out around a promising young prospect. However, Wembanyama is a much different situation. He's already proving to be an elite talent on both ends, which should speed up San Antonio's timeline.
During a recent episode of his podcast, insider Kevin O'Connor gave his thoughts on the Spurs. He thinks Chris Paul's style slows them down and that they should go after Sacramento Kings guard De'Aaron Fox.
"I get annoyed watching Chris Paul, he bugs me," O'Connor said. "He's just too slow, slows down the offense, it really pisses me off."

"Fox, the speed aspect with Victor. That's what I want to see."
Following the firing of head coach Mike Brown, Fox has become a new name to pop up in rumors. As of now, the $34.8 million All-Star has not requested a trade and Sacramento doesn't seem in a rush to move him.
Armed with young players and an abundance of draft capital, San Antonio is a team that could pull off a Fox trade if he were to become available.
San Antonio Spurs reportedly have "early interest" in De'Aaron Fox
Kevin O'Connor's remarks is far from the first time De'Aaron Fox has been linked to the San Antonio Spurs. Earlier this week, another insider reported on the team's interest in the Kings guard.
While breaking down intel from across the league, Michael Scotto touched on Fox's situation in Sacramento. He cited that if the Kings were to gauge the market on the former No. 5 pick, San Antonio is among the interested teams.
"Fox, whose long-term future is uncertain. Some around the league believe it would take a trade request for the Kings to consider moving Fox.
If Sacramento gauges the market on Fox, the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Miami Heat have been among the early candidates linked with possible interest."
Fox, 27, is an All-NBA caliber guard in the prime of his career. This season, he is averaging 26.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. As for his contract, Fox is signed through this season and next before becoming a free agent in 2026.
In terms of fit, Fox is a player who does make sense for the Spurs. He is a hyperathletic guard who loves to play in the open floor. Also, sharing the floor with Wembanyama would only elevate his game, as he'd have more room to operate around the rim.
On the other side, San Antonio could be an enticing destination for Fox as well. They have the financial capabilities to give him a sizable contract and have a rising superstar for him to play alongside for years to come.
