NBA fans were quite impressed with Zach Edey of the Memphis Grizzlies in his Salt Lake City Summer League debut. Edey had a really good outing and even forced overtime against the Utah Jazz. There were a lot of skeptics when the Grizzlies took the Purdue big man with the ninth overall pick.
Edey finished the game with 14 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks while shooting 7-for-11 from the field. He also hit the game-tying tip shot at the end of regulation to force an extra period of play.
With the Jazz up 90-87, they sent Jake LaRavia to the free-throw line, and he made the first one. LaRavie missed the second shot on purpose, with Edey getting the tip offensive rebound and the ball bouncing off the glass and into the ring to tie the game at the buzzer.

NBA fans were impressed with Zach Edey's Summer League debut for the Memphis Grizzlies. While some critics were surprised that the Grizzlies went with Edey, others thought that the 7-foot-4 big man was a perfect fit to a young Memphis team led by Ja Morant.
"Steal of the draft," a fan claimed.
"Let's go EDEY! I'm really pulling for this guy to be successful in the NBA," one fan wrote.
"The Memphis Grizzlies turned up the heat in their Summer League debut! Zach Edey, Cam Spencer, and the squad put on an absolute show," another fan praised.
There were doubts about Zach Edey's transition from college basketball to the pros due to his size and limited agility. However, it seems like Edey passed his first Summer League with flying colors after putting up a double-double and playing 29 minutes.
"He's big and has stamina. High potential," a fan claimed.
"Big dude already creating big waves," one fan remarked.
"This game was so enjoyable to watch. I was cheering on the Jazz but Memphis was good. Edey and Cam Spencer are solid rookies," another fan wrote.
Zach Edey, Grizzlies lose Summer League game to Utah Jazz
Despite his efforts to force the game into overtime, Zach Edey and the Memphis Grizzlies fell short to the Utah Jazz 97-95. Both teams struggled to score in the extra period and it became a scrappy game in the end.
For those unaware, the overtime during this year's Summer League had a target score of 97 using the Elam Ending format. Keyonte George hit the game-winning free throws after getting fouled by Edey.
Some Grizzlies players were disappointed by the outcome but they put up a good game. Scotty Pippen Jr. had 21 points, five assists and two steals, while Jake LaRavia put up 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. GG Jackson II and Cam Spencer added 11 points each.
