Steph Curry had back-to-back showstopping performances in the 2024 Paris Olympics to help Team USA win gold. Despite that, there has been a bit of retirement talk surrounding the future Hall of Famer. Golden State is in fifth place in the Western Conference.

Curry previously said that after reaching 35, he sought advice from Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers on how to play beyond 35. While he indicated in an interview with Andscape, "who knows" about playing at 40 years old, retirement rumors have followed the future Hall of Famer this season.

During an interview with Bloomberg's The Circuit of Emily Chang, released this week, Curry spoke about his career, and the idea of retirement.

“There are two ways to really go out in basketball: either you’re forced out or you go out on your own terms," Curry said. "I hope to be in a situation where you consider how your body feels, what it takes to get ready for games, and the offseason training that goes into preparing yourself for an 82-game season.

"There will be a clear sign that it’s time to hang it up. I don’t want to be the one that’s limping up and down the court trying to keep up with the young bucks, but I don’t think I’m anywhere close to that yet.”

"I think about it all the time" - Steph Curry spoke candidly about retirement earlier this year

While Steph Curry isn't ready to ride off into the sunset just yet, the four-time NBA champ has spoken pretty openly about retirement. Earlier this year, during an interview with ClutchPoints, Curry said he thinks about retirement all the time.

Despite that, he doesn't dwell on the topic for long given that he's almost always preparing for a game.

“I think about it all the time, but the thoughts stop because you gotta get ready for the next game, and there’s a routine and a cycle that goes where you embrace the now," Curry said.
"Eventually, it’ll get to a point where you’ll wake up, and whatever your body is telling and your mind is telling you it’s time, but I don’t think I’m anywhere close to that.”

With the NBA schedule in full swing, only time will tell what the future holds for the famed point guard. After signing a one-year extension this summer, following the 2024-25 season, Curry will have two years left before free agency. By that time, he will be closing in on 40 years of age.
