The Golden State Warriors suffered a frustrating 118-108 home loss to the LA Lakers on Saturday, with Steph Curry’s underwhelming performance contributing significantly to the defeat. Following the game, Curry was asked about his recent injuries and whether they continue to affect him.
The four-time NBA champion shared a concerning update, particularly regarding lingering issues with his thumb. Although Curry refused to use the injury as an excuse for his struggles against LeBron James and the Lakers, the two-time league MVP admitted that it remains an issue, as the thumb has not yet fully healed.
"It sucks, but it’s not an excuse for anything. Gotta play through it. I went 8-for-8 with it. It’s just something that’s been lingering."

Curry has been managing a right thumb injury since the start of the year. Over the past 25 days, his thumb has been taped on during games to provide support while he plays.
Since the start of the season, the superstar point guard has struggled with recurring injuries, forcing him to miss several games. The one-time NBA Finals MVP has appeared in 37 of the team's 45 games, already missing eight games this season.
These nagging injuries have prevented Curry from performing at his peak, which has, in turn, affected the Warriors’ overall campaign. Following their loss to the Lakers, Steve Kerr’s squad fell below a .500 record and now sits in 11th place in the Western Conference standings with a 22-23 record.
Steph Curry failed to deliver against the Lakers
Steph Curry often rises to the occasion with standout performances when facing teams with superstar-caliber players. On Saturday, he not only faced the Lakers but went head-to-head with his longtime rival, LeBron James.
However, in an uncharacteristic showing, the greatest shooter of all time struggled offensively, particularly in the second half, where he missed all eight of his shot attempts.
Overall, Curry finished with 13 points on a disappointing 4 of 17 shooting from the field, including 2 of 9 from beyond the arc.
