For the first time in his career, Steph Curry will be suiting up for Team USA in the Summer Olympics. Before the international play kicks off, his mother left him a glowing message on social media.

After not securing a medal in the World Cup last summer, multiple NBA stars became interested in suiting up for the 2024 Olympics. The end result was a star-studded roster poised to get the United States back on top. Aside from Curry, some of the other players on Team USA's roster include LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid.

On Friday afternoon, a video popped up on social media of Steph Curry getting ready to get some work in with Team USA. His mom, Sonya Curry, left a heartwarming comment letting her son know how proud she is of him.

While the Golden State Warriors star has never played in the Olympics, it isn't his first time competing for Team USA. He helped them wing a gold medal in the World Cup in 2010 and 2014.

Despite entering his late 30s, Curry is still one of the top guards in the NBA. He is coming off a season with the Warriors where he averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

Steph Curry expected to start for Team USA in 2024 Olympics

Heading into the Olympics, Steve Kerr has a tall task at hand. While he has an array of superstar talent at his disposal, he now has to come up with lineups that elevate the group as a whole.

Almost every player on the Olympic roster is used to being "the guy" on their NBA team. Steph Curry is among those in that category as he has been the face of the Golden State Warriors dynasty for over a decade now.

In a story breaking down what Team USA's starting lineup could look like, Joe Vardon revealed what Curry's role is expected to be. While he'll be starting at point guard, LeBron James is expected to run the offense from the forward position. Instead, Curry will be utilized as an off-ball threat with his elite-level shooting.

"James, the sources said, will likely play point forward for the Americans as a starter, moving Curry off the ball. He is 6-8 and one of the greatest passers of all time, leading the NBA in assists in 2020."

Given the array of talent on the roster, this might be the right choice for Steph Curry on Team USA. When it comes to playmaking, LeBron is one of the greatest ever. Having him run the offense will allow Curry to come off screens and attack defenses as a catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc.

After years of battling it out in the NBA Finals, LeBron and Curry finally get to come together on the same team and help the US win gold in Paris.
