Steph Curry is back! After missing the Golden State Warriors' recent 105-101 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the point guard returned to action in a matchup against his former teammate Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
Curry and Durant were teammates for three seasons with the Warriors, a period that brought them championships in 2017 and 2018. Since Durant's move to the Brooklyn Nets and eventual trade to the Phoenix Suns, this marks just the seventh meeting between the two stars.
Curry was unable to make a field goal in the first half, missing all five of his shots.
Curry came alive in the second half, dropping 21 points and sinking eight field goals, including three triples. Despite his efforts, the Warriors couldn’t hold off the Suns, falling 113-105.

Steph Curry gives Kevin Durant an ‘out-of-body experience’
Team USA's roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, nicknamed the “Avengers,” included a star-studded group with LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant leading the way.
Although Curry and Durant had already played together with the Warriors, the experience of playing alongside the two-time MVP was still exciting for Durant.
“I had so much fun,” Durant shared about his Olympic experience (per FIBA). “Steph was an out-of-body experience for me—seeing him shoot over two defenders, hitting nine 3s last game, eight 3s this game. I'm just grateful to be a part of it."
Curry had a standout performance for Team USA in their gold medal-clinching win over host team France in the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s basketball finals. With 36 seconds left and the USA leading 93-87, Curry, double-teamed by Nicolas Batum and Evan Fournier, knocked down a clutch 3-pointer that sealed victory for the Americans.
Steph Curry led Team USA in their gold medal game against France, contributing 24 points, five assists and two steals.
Although Curry didn’t win MVP, he was named to the Olympic All-Star Five alongside James. He averaged 14.8 points, shot an impressive 47.8% from beyond the arc, and added 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
In an interview with Andscape's Marc J. Spears, Durant said the time spent at the Olympics helped him and Curry reconnect.
"We definitely, definitely, definitely did talk about some good times that we had together," Durant said. "(Curry is) just an incredible human being."
Durant earned two Finals MVPs as a member of the Warriors, who were regarded as a “superteam” alongside Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
