After missing the Golden State Warriors' 99-93 win over the Houston Rockets due to a knee injury, Steph Curry returned to action against the surging Minnesota Timberwolves.

In the first half, Curry scored seven points on 2-of-7 shooting, missing all three of his 3-point attempts but contributing two assists.

The Timberwolves, powered by Anthony Edwards’ 12 first-half points, led 56-46 at halftime.

Curry had a better showing in the second half, where he had 16 points, but his efforts were not enough to tow the Warriors to victory as the Timberwolves snagged the 107-90 win.

Warriors adjust Steph Curry’s minutes upon his request

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr revealed that Steph Curry asked for a rotation adjustment following the team’s recent five-game losing streak.

Previously, the Warriors rested Curry for eight consecutive minutes during games. However, Curry suggested shortening his rest stretches to help the team during critical moments.

“Just wanted to change it up,” Kerr said (per Yahoo!). “We lost four in a row. We were losing the Steph minutes when he was sitting eight straight minutes. Those stretches of the game have been tough. It was actually his suggestion the other day.
“He came to me and said, 'If you need me to do that, I'm happy to do it.' We liked it.”

Since implementing the change, Curry has logged more than 34 minutes in a game for only the fourth time this season. Currently, he’s averaging 30.2 minutes per game, the third-lowest mark of his career, while posting averages of 22.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds.

“Traditionally he hasn’t loved three stints a half, he likes two stints,” Kerr added. “But he recognizes that right now we need to do that. I thought it was effective. It’s hard because you have to take him out around the eight-minute mark of the fourth quarter, but he needs to get some rest.”

At age 36, Curry has already missed five games this season.
