Steph Curry returned from knee soreness on Sunday to play against the Sacramento Kings. The two-time MVP sat out Saturday’s 121-113 win over the Memphis Grizzlies to recover from lingering knee issues. As expected, he started for the Dubs on the second night of a back-to-back set.

Curry had five points, three rebounds and a steal in the first 12 minutes as the Warriors struggled off the bat. Golden State trailed 36-21 after the end of one quarter.

Curry's hot start in the second quarter enabled the Warriors to cut Sacramento's lead to 40-36 with 8:50 remaining. Steve Kerr took out the superstar point guard for a breather, allowing the Kings to bounce back. Curry finished the first half with 20 points, but his team faced a 75-51 deficit heading into the next half.

Chef Curry added six more points in the third quarter, but the Sacramento Kings continued to dominate the game. Golden State's offense sputtered and its defense couldn't slow down the visitors. Sacramento led 105-75 before the start of the fourth period.

Steve Kerr decided to bench Steph Curry in the fourth quarter. He started the seldom-used Pat Spencer to close out the game. The Dubs eventually lost 129-99.

The Golden State Warriors drop to 13-15 with Steph Curry in the lineup

The loss to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday dropped the Golden State Warriors' record to 18-17. They are also 13-15 for the season when the two-time MVP plays and 5-2 without him. Curry is averaging 22.3 points per game on 44.7% shooting, including 41.8% from behind the arc this season. He also contributes 6.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds per contest.

Curry has been dealing with knee issues, forcing him to miss multiple games. Still, the Warriors have held up well when he is on the inactive list. The Dubs leaned on Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Dennis Schroder on Saturday, their latest win without Curry.

With Steph Curry back on the roster, the Warriors couldn't get the same performance from Schroder, who finished with three points and two assists. Wiggins tallied 18 points, four rebounds and one assist.
