Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors have struggled with inconsistency this season, but they managed to start a winning streak with a 122-114 victory over the struggling Washington Wizards on Saturday.

The game, however, was marked by injury concerns, with Draymond Green leaving after just three minutes and Curry appearing to suffer an ankle injury late in the contest.

The Wizards came into the game on an eight-game losing streak but got off to a strong start, outscoring the Warriors 29-25 in the opening quarter. Poole and rookie Bub Carrington each scored eight points in that period.

Curry found his rhythm in the second quarter. After only three points in the first, he tallied 10 in the next 12 minutes, but the Wizards still outscored the Warriors by three. Poole's 15 points helped give Washington a 60-53 lead at halftime.

By the break, Steph Curry had 13 points, three assists and three rebounds, hitting three 3-pointers and shooting 5-for-13. He added another 13 points in the second half, leading the Warriors to outscore the Wizards by 15 in the final two quarters

Analyst wants Steph Curry to consider trade out of Warriors

Members of the Golden State Warriors appear content with maintaining their current roster and avoiding moves that could jeopardize their future.

However, considering Steph Curry’s importance to the franchise and his past comments prioritizing winning, Yahoo! Sports' Kevin O'Connor suggested that Curry might be better off joining a team that could maximize his skills for championship contention.

"Steph could be traded ahead of the deadline because of the nature of his contract. So he could be. He does not have a trade restriction," O'Connor said on "The Kevin O'Connor Show” (per NBC Sports Bay Area).
"Highly unlikely. I would be shocked if it happens this year. I would be shocked if it really ever happens. But it's something he should think about. It's something he should think about because he still has something to offer. It could benefit the Warriors long-term -- and it does not negatively impact your legacy.”

O'Connor acknowledged that loyalty is a valued trait in the NBA but referenced Tom Brady’s decision to leave the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an example.

“There's something amazing about (being a lifer), but I think it's overrated,” O’Connor said. “I grew up a hardcore Patriots and Celtics fan, and I don't think of Brady any less for leaving the Patriots. I think more of him for doing it."

Last offseason, Steph Curry signed a $62.6 million extension, keeping him with the Warriors until the 2026-27 season unless he is traded.
