Head coach Steve Kerr has shared an update on Andrew Wiggins' availability for their game on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Golden State Warriors are ramping up training camp, preparing for their preseason opener in Honolulu, Hawaii against the LA Clippers.
According to Kerr, the former top pick out of the University of Kansas is dealing with an illness. This is why he missed the Warriors' third straight practice.
"Warriors coach Steve Kerr says Andrew Wiggins won’t play Saturday against the Clippers. Still isn’t feeling well. Wearing a mask while watching practices from the sideline."

The Warriors look to rely on more production from Wiggins now that Klay Thompson is with the Dallas Mavericks. Last season, the one-time All-Star struggled to make an impact with the team. He played 71 games but only averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Kerr expressed that he wants to see more from Wiggins on the offensive side during the Warriors' media day on Monday.
"I'm expecting a big year from Wiggs," Kerr said (1:45)."I think there's also a void that has left Klay, by Klay's absence that we need to fill. That's a lot of points to score."
"But it also means we have to re-think how we're doing things and Wiggs will be featured, for sure. He's a guy who's proven, he's a 20-point a night guy and we're gonna be relying on him heavily."

Andrew Wiggins knows that he needs to do more for the Warriors this season
While last season's performance was disappointing for Andrew Wiggins, he's put that behind and is focused on the upcoming season. In Thompson's absence, a hole on the offense needs to be filled and Wiggins is the player many look to take over.
The 6-foot-7 forward has shown that he can be reliable offensively. Wiggins was one of the Minnesota Timberwolves' best alternatives in the early going of his career. He averaged 20 points twice in his career and showed promise as a scorer.
During his media day availability, Wiggins was asked if he's aware of how aggressive of a scorer he needs to be now that Thompson left.
"More than I did last year, for sure," Wiggins said.
Since becoming an All-Star and winning the title in 2022, Wiggins has never been the same. His performance on the squad was greatly impacted by his absences and family emergencies.
