The Golden State Warriors lost another game they should've won. They failed to hold on against the 9-31 Toronto Raptors, dropping their 20th game of the season.

Steph Curry's team is now 19-20 for the year and on the outside of the playoff picture. They're No. 12 in the competitive Western Conference.

They've been tangled up with multiple rumors this season. Nonetheless, it seems like they will have to part ways with their young players if they want to land a win-now star. With that in mind, coach Steve Kerr admitted that as much as they want to get better, they know they can't jeopardize the future to make a championship run now.

“This is a tricky spot,” Kerr told The Athletic. “ (GM) Mike (Dunleavy Jr.) is incredibly sharp. We have a great organization. I have no doubt Mike will navigate it, and I’ll help any way I can. We’ve got to try to give Steph every chance he has to perform. That’s really important these last few years, whatever that means. But you don’t give away the future.”

The Warriors want to help Steph Curry, says Steve Kerr

Steve Kerr acknowledged that Steph Curry won't be able to play at this level for much longer. As such, the team needs to make sure to do everything in its power to help him make a final championship push.

“What we’re watching with Steph is one of the greatest artists of all time, one of the greatest performers of all time, in his twilight,” Kerr said. “What can we do to give him the best chance to perform? To give our fans thrills? To give us a chance in the playoffs? Can we help him? Can we help make the game easier for him? I think that’s where we are, organizationally.”

Curry, however, hasn't looked like his usual self this season, either. He's battled a nagging knee injury for most of the campaign, and his scoring outbursts have been relatively rare.

The Warriors could still opt to surround the greatest 3-point shooter of all time with another star like Jimmy Butler. Then again, they will have to do much heavy lifting to get back in the playoff picture, and given the way their roster is shaped right now, perhaps not even landing another star will be enough to get back into contention.
