Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry made NBA history during Monday's 104-101 road loss to the Toronto Raptors. The two-time MVP overtook Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson for 28th place on the league's all-time scoring list. Afterward, several NBA fans advocated for Iverson's less 3-point-dependent offensive playstyle.
Curry entered Monday with 24,345 career points, needing 24 points to surpass Iverson (24,368 points). He narrowly achieved the milestone, delivering a game-high 26-point performance to extend his career scoring tally to 24,371 points.
The NBA's all-time leader in triples (3,882), a large portion of Curry's point total has come from beyond the arc. Conversely, Iverson, widely considered one of the pound-for-pound greatest players ever, relied more on his signature crossover, inside finishing ability and midrange game.

Following Curry's achievement, fans on X/Twitter weighed in on its significance. While some congratulated the four-time NBA champion, others pushed back, noting that Iverson's offensive mastery exceeded Curry's, as he took fewer 3s.
"Iverson (was) better," @Big12Pokes said.
"I'm still taking AI," @Big12Pokes wrote.
"I bet if there was no 3-point line, he would not have that many points," @steve0108 said.
"And he shoots mostly 3s," @redskinsavage99 wrote.

Steph Curry reflects on passing Allen Iverson on NBA's all-time scoring list
While fans debated Steph Curry versus Allen Iverson on Monday, Curry was unaware of his chance to surpass the Hall of Famer's career scoring mark.
Following Golden State's three-point road defeat, Curry reflected on the magnitude of his unexpected milestone and Iverson's impact on the modern NBA. He also recounted his enjoyment of watching the 2001 MVP as a child.
"It's pretty special. I didn't know coming in," Curry said. "Obviously, he changed the game in a lot of ways on and off the court. He's somebody that made the game fun to watch. ... I remember watching a lot of his games. Obviously, it's pretty cool to be in a situation where you're among those types of names."
Curry will look to add to his career scoring tally during Wednesday's road clash against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Next up for him to overtake on the all-time scoring list is sharpshooting icon Ray Allen, who ranks 27th with 24,505 points.
