The Phoenix Suns have been the most aggressive team in the NBA since they changed owners. Mat Ishbia's hands-on approach has gotten them Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and a new coach. Unfortunately, that hasn't translated into much winning in the desert.

The team has failed in the playoffs, and they're free-falling and looking to offload Beal now. Even so, the new owner just won't stop rolling the dice and swinging for the fences.

Ishbia just got rid of even more picks. This time, he did so to get Nick Richards, a backup center from the Charlotte Hornets. In order to get him, as many as four second-round picks had to be involved in the transaction.

That's why, according to Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, some league executives believe they could look to implement an 'Ishbia Rule.' This would prevent new owners from making trades for six months:

"Everyone knows about the Stepien Rule. I don't know how this is all going to play out, but depending on how that KD trade ends up, there might be an 'Ishbia Rule' proposed where new owners can't make a trade for six months after buying the team," the unnamed executive told the insiders.

The aforementioned Stepien Rule prevents teams from trading first-round picks in consecutive years.

The Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, four first-round picks, and a first-round pick swap to the Brooklyn Nets to get Kevin Durant.

They've also traded eight consecutive years of second-round picks to keep building the team around Durant and Devin Booker.

The Suns are still looking to make more trades

The Suns have put their entire future in jeopardy with all of these moves. However, instead of backpedaling, they're looking to double and triple down on this approach.

They still want to trade for Jimmy Butler, and that would inevitably cost them the only first-round pick they're still allowed to trade:

"Phoenix has also discussed using the one first-round pick it is still allowed to trade (2031) in various talks around trying to acquire Butler, multiple league sources told ESPN," the report continued.

Of course, they would also need to move Bradley Beal to make room in their books for Butler. Given his steep salary, his no-trade clause, his injury proneness, and his less-than-impressive play, that looks like a Herculean task at the moment, even with that future first-round pick attached to him.
