New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has been out of action since Nov. 8 due to a hamstring injury in the 2024-25 NBA season. His return has been much anticipated, but a piece of devastating news from ESPN's Shams Charania reveals Williamson could extend his absence.

Charania appeared as a guest on "The PatMcAfee Show" and addressed Williamson's pending return.

"Zion Williamson has been out for about a month, and he's not close to coming back... That hamstring has been a chronic issue for him," Charania said.

After fans found the news of Williamson's injury, they went online and talked about their disappointment with the forward's condition.

"Sydney Thomas ended his career," one fan referenced the ring girl that went viral during the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight.
"Kawhi and Zion at scamming organizations and not doing their job," another fan brought up Kawhi Leonard, who's also injured.
"The dude refuses to take his weight seriously and it’s crazy. Dude got paid and gives no f***s," a fan addressed the New Orleans star's weight issue.

Other fans were more concerned with his recurring injuries.

"Zion Williamson is trending towards being an NBA bust. Hope he can lower his weight and get healthy, but don't see this happening."
"The Pelicans need to trade him, if I was them I would rather the cap space if my player is never gonna play enough to impact our winning," another fan had a suggestion for the Pelicans.
"Going to New Orleans ruined his career," a fan said.

Williamson has played six games in the regular season, averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

Former teammate of Zion Williamson suggests he should leave New Orleans

Jrue Holiday, the former teammate of Zion Williamson with the Pelicans, went as a guest on "Podcast P with Paul George." During his visit, he opined that Williamson should undergo a career change.

"But I feel like he needs a change in some kind of way because he is promising, bro," Holiday said. "At least when I had him as a rookie, it was amazing; that's just what he was capable of. They talk about the weight gain and doing all that, but I’ve seen him at 280, 290 still above the rim," he added.

Holiday and Williamson played together during the 2019-20 season, the latter's first year in the league. During that year, the forward was stellar and posted 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists. However, even back then, the former Duke star suffered injuries and was limited to 24 games.
