Seven-foot-six big man Tacko Fall didn’t receive much playing time over his first three seasons in the NBA. However, due to his larger-than-life size and likable personality, he has always remained a fan favorite.

In August, Fall signed with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association after not receiving any NBA offers. At that point, it seemed like his NBA career may be over. But Fall is now giving NBA teams something to think about as he dominates in China.

Through nine games, Tacko Fall is leading his team in points (14.6), rebounds (8.3) and blocks per game (3.0). He is also shooting 71.8%. Pretty solid numbers for a traditional big man. However, it’s Fall’s highlight reel from his time in China that really had fans buzzing on social media.

In a viral clip from Twitter, Tacko Fall looks like a man among boys in China. This includes him pushing the ball up the court on fastbreaks, bullying his way to the basket and finishing with authority on multiple plays. Overall, Fall looks so dominant that some fans are even jokingly comparing him to NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain.

It's worth noting that the gap between the CBA and the NBA is extremely big. But Fall demonstrated that he has a lot more skill than most people realize. In particular, he’s shown that he’s actually rather quick and agile for someone who is 7-6.

CBA still does have some other former NBA players, including Thon Maker, Jared Sullinger and MarShon Brooks. So, it’s not like Fall is playing against absolute scrubs. It will be interesting to see if Fall’s highlight reels will lead to any additional NBA opportunities. If not, Tacko Fall will continue to be a fan favorite, even from across the globe.

As far as Tacko Fall’s NBA career goes, he played 37 games for the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers since 2019. In those games, he averaged 2.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks on 67.3% shooting. He averaged just 6.2 minutes with most of those minutes coming in garbage time.

The main reason for Fall's lack of playing time is that he struggled with the overall speed and athleticism of players at the NBA level. But outside of the NBA, he has proven to have value.

In four years in college at Central Florida, Fall averaged 10.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks on 74.0% shooting. He did this in just 23.0 minutes per game in 115 games.

In 55 G League games for the Maine Red Claws and Cleveland Charge between 2019 and 2022, Fall proved that he can be productive. Fall averaged of 13.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks on 73.5% shooting.

Overall, Fall has been extremely consistent stats-wise outside of the NBA. So his recent dominance in China certainly isn’t a fluke. Fall may never carve out a consistent NBA career, but it’s definitely too early to count out a 26-year-old 7-6 big man entering his prime.
