NBA fans troll Jayson Tatum's Leonardo DiCaprio inspired photoshoot (Imagn)

Jayson Tatum made the rounds on social media after the Boston Celtics won the 18th NBA championship in franchise history. Besides being a key part in the team's success, the way he behaved after winning the Larry O'Brien trophy raised some eyebrows.

Tatum paid homage to some notable celebrations over the years and he added a new one during a photoshoot with Sports Illustrated. The star forward copied Leonardo DiCaprio's iconic image from 'The Great Gatsby' movie, where he toasts somebody.

This picture rubbed some people the wrong way, as many fans took to social media to criticize Tatum for copying another iconic moment, although this time it was from a movie and not a championship celebration or award acceptance speech.

"Jayson Tatum really is on a plagiarism world tour 😭😭," one fan said.
"This a generational run ngl," another fan wrote.
"Bro copy everything he seen on the internet," another one said.

Others called him corny and said he should be copying other players as he doesn't have any aura.

"All he does is copy others, dude has zero aura," one fan said.

Jayson Tatum speaks on fans mocking him for his celebrations

This isn't the first time Jayson Tatum has been criticized for his celebrations or what others call 'homages.' After winning the 2024 NBA championship, the forward used multiple celebrations.

Starting with the "We did it!" celebration which sounded a lot like Kevin Garnett's 'anything is possible' cry in 2008. He also quoted Angel Reese's celebration after winning the NCAA national championship, asking what the haters would say now. This is what Steph Curry said after the Warriors won the 2022 NBA championship.

Tatum also tried to emulate Kobe Bryant's iconic picture with the Larry O'Brien trophy and even after that, he dropped a Kanye West quote, saying people would never know what would happen if the Celtics lost the finals.

Speaking on that, Tatum admitted that the 'internet is undefeated:'

“Yeah. I have, you know, the internet is a great place and, you know, it's definitely, as they say, the internet is undefeated. So, you know, I've had a good time laughing and seeing all the memes and things like that.”

JT is now with Team USA, trying to win another gold medal to close a huge year for him.
