Joel Embiid looking forward to matchup against France

Early on in the Olympics, Joel Embiid wasn't much of a factor for Team USA. However, he had one of his best performances in the Summer Games against Nikola Jokic and Serbia. Embiid posted 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting to help the United States pull off a massive comeback.

Following this thrilling matchup, the stage for the gold medal matchup is officially set. This weekend, Team USA will battle it out with France for the right to be the last team standing.

Seeing that France heavily recruited Joel Embiid leading up to the Olympics, he is sure to be a key talking point in this matchup. After the win against Serbia, the Sixers star doesn't plan on backing down from the home fans.

After the win against Serbia, Embiid was asked about dealing with the backlash from the French fans in the gold medal game. He doesn't plan on backing down and is ready to get into it with them.

"Team USA against France," Embiid said. "I know myself I'm gonna interact, I'm gonna enjoy it. They're gonna boo me, I'm gonna go back at them and tell them to s*** it."

Embiid cannot get too caught up in the outside noise, as Team USA is going to need him locked in for the gold medal matchup. He is sure to receive a good amount of playing time to battle with France's two seven-footers in Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert.
