The Paris Olympics are set to begin soon and the USA and Germany squared off on Monday in their final preparation game.
Team USA fired the opening salvo courtesy of a LeBron James basket but Germany countered quickly with an Andreas Obst three on the other end.
The momentum started to shift by the four-and-a-half-minute mark. Jrue Holiday hit a three-pointer to put USA up by one (14-13) sparking a 12-2 run. By the end of the first, the score had ballooned in USA's favor, 29-17. Holiday led the USA with eight points.
The Germans showed resilience in the second quarter as they tried to chip away at the deficit. The Americans did not make it easy, but the Germans were able to cut the lead to seven by halftime before an impressive scoring run in the third gave them a one-point lead by the 7:19 mark.

From that point on, fans were treated to a back-and-forth matchup as both teams traded blows and exchanged leads several times. By the end of the third, the Germans had secured a narrow three-point lead (71-68).
Defense prevailed in the fourth quarter. As the game entered its final stretch, the score was still knotted at 78 with neither team giving their opponent an inch. However, Team USA prevailed in the clutch as they went on a scoring run to take a four-point win (92-88).
LeBron James scored the final 11 points for his team to finish with 20. Joel Embiid, Steph Curry and Anthony Edwards all posted double digits with 15, 13 and 11 respectively.
Franz Wagner and Andreas Obst led the charge for Germany with 18 and 14 points respectively. Obst was an impressive 5-11 from 3-point range.
Team USA finished their pre-Olympic exhibition with a 5-0 record and have plenty of momentum coming into the Paris Olympics.
