On Sunday morning, Team USA took the floor in its first official game of the 2024 Olympics. They squared off against a familiar foe in Serbia to kick off the Group Phase round.
These teams faced off during the Showcase games leading up to the Olympics. The United States went on to dominate in that matchup, winning by a final score of 105-79.
Similar to the last time these teams faced, Team USA walked away with a blowout victory. Thanks to a dominant showing from multiple players, they were able to take down Nikola Jokic and company by a final score of 110-84.
With this win, the United States continues its undefeated streak dating back to the showcase games. They'll look to keep the momentum rolling in their next matchup against South Sudan on July 31st.

Team USA vs Serbia game recap
Early on, it looked like this matchup could have gone either way. The United States came out of the gates slow, which allowed Serbia to take an early lead. Following their sluggish start, the star-studded roster eventually managed to find their groove.
Things were neck-and-neck in the first half, but things drastically changed coming out of halftime. The United States took full control of the game, allowing them to coast to a runaway victory in the end.
The most notable performance in this matchup was Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant. After missing most of the pre-Olympic ramp-up due to a calf injury, the former MVP returned to action against Serbia.
Durant came off the bench in this game and immediately made his presence felt. He went on to finish the game with a team-high 23 points on stellar 8-for-9 shooting.
As for Serbia, they were led by three-time MVP Nikola Jokic. He put together a strong all-around outing, but it was not enough to match the firepower of the United States. Jokic logged 30 minutes of action and finished with 20 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
