NBA fans might have found out why the Boston Celtics lost to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals. The pricing for Game 5 at the TD Garden has reached insane territory, anticipating the Celtics lifting the Larry O'Brien trophy for the first time since 2008.
According to Kyle Zorn of TickPick, Game 5 of the NBA Finals is Boston's most expensive sporting event. It has an average ticket price of $2,213 with a current get-in price of around $1,175. The most expensive ticket currently sold was $12,056.
The city has been clamoring for a championship since 2018 when the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots won the World Series and Super Bowl, respectively. The Celtics have not won since 2008 and the Bruins have not lifted the Stanley Cup since 2011.

While the theory of some fans why the Boston Celtics played poorly in Game 4 was to get the win at the TD Garden in Game 5, others point to the financial gains if the team wins at home.
"That is why the Celtics didn't win last night," one fan wrote.
"Well, it's the latest championship close out game in Boston, so it's not surprising lol" a fan commented.
"Real fans can't even get in to the games anymore smfh" another fan claimed.
Others want the Dallas Mavericks to do the funniest thing and send the NBA Finals to a Game 6 back at the American Airlines Center.
"Til those game seven prices roll in," another fan remarked.
"This would be hilarious if they lost," a fan wrote.
"A lot of money to see Luka come back from 3-0," a Mavs fan claimed.
Lakers legends hoping for Dallas Mavericks miracle at NBA Finals
The Boston Celtics are one win away from breaking the tie with the LA Lakers for most championships in NBA history. But despite the 3-0 hole the Dallas Mavericks dug themselves in, some Lakers legends are hoping for the greatest comeback the league has ever seen.
"I don't want to have to face Cedric Maxwell if Boston gets to 18 before us. It will be insufferable for me to sit through that for three hours dealing with his 'I told you so's.' I'm going to have to call in sick for the two Boston games next year if they hold on and win this series. So, come on Luka, stop fouling out," Lakers commentator and two-time champ Mychal Thompson told ESPN.
Lamar Odom understands why the Celtics are in the position they are in, but he can't help himself if he wants Boston to lose. He was part of the 2008 Lakers team that lost to the Celtics. He was also part of the 2010 championship team and one person he doesn't want to see happy was Paul Pierce.
"I know Paul Pierce is happy and it kind of makes me sick to see him gloat and be that happy because that team is about to win," Odom said.
