Former Golden State Warriors guard Gilbert Arenas is interested in getting a Victor Wembanyama jersey that has a starting bid of $10,000 in an auction. The fan who received the Wembanyama jersey after the San Antonio Spurs' Dec. 27 game against the Brooklyn Nets listed the memorabilia for auction at the Goldin auction house.
After seeing the starting bid, Arenas was ready to offer $10,000 to the fan who posted the Spurs jersey.
"Hey, I'll give you the ten grand for the jersey, sir," Arenas proposed. "DM me, I'll buy that jersey for ten grand.
His co-host and former teammate, Nick Young, asked if it was a signed jersey. It was confirmed on Friday's "Gil's Arena" that Wemby didn't sign the jersey.

"What's the chances of me getting Wemby to sign that jersey? And what do you think a game-worn Wemby jersey will go for ten years from now?
"That jersey is in the public as a game-worn jersey. His signature hits that jersey, 10-15 years from now, he does what he does, that jersey is already about $50,000 to $200,000. Game-worn jerseys is hard, that's the hardest one to get. The one that's off your motherf**king back."
During the Spurs' December game against the Nets, Wemby helped the team to a 96-87 win with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and six blocks.
After the jersey was listed for sale at the auction house, the Spurs star saw it on X (formerly Twitter). Wemby used one emoji to express his emotion to his jersey being auctioned off.
The bidding for the jersey will start on Jan. 23.
Victor Wembanyama's All-Star status could increase the jersey's value
The third fan returns for the 2025 NBA All-Star Voting arrived and Victor Wembanyama is gradually climbing up the ranks. The Spurs star was in fourth place in the fan voting with 2,200,173 votes. The player in third place is Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns.
The gap between them is large as Durant amassed 2,498,843 votes. However, Wemby still has the chance to finish in the top three and become an All-Star starter this season.
However, even though he doesn't make the cut as an All-Star starter, he has a strong case of being part of the reserves. Wemby is averaging 24.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 4.0 blocks (most in the league).
In his second season, the 7-foot-4 Frenchman has proven that he's got what it takes to be a star. Wemby has outperformed many of his fellow sophomore players by playing at an elite level on both ends of the floor.
