Steph Curry delivered a stellar performance for Team USA in their gold medal-winning game against France in the finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s basketball event, and his teammate Anthony Edwards had him laughing with his description of his iconic play in the clutch.

After leading Team USA in scoring, Steph Curry went on Instagram Live to celebrate the victory.

One highlight came with 36 seconds left in the game when USA was up 93-87. Despite being double-teamed by Nicolas Batum and Evan Fournier, Curry hit a clutch 3-pointer that essentially secured the win for Team USA.

Humorously recounting the moment during Curry’s live session, Edwards said:

“Hey, that n***a shot that ball with two people. I'm on the bench like, hold on, I know he hot, but hey, buddy just [shot it].”

Although Edwards was amazed by the shot, he jokingly told Curry that after making it, he should have pointed at the defenders and done his signature night-night gesture.

After the laughs, Curry reflected on how special the victory was for Team USA.

“We're about to go out and get our gold medal. This is the one and done, baby. Gold medal. You do it like that,” Steph Curry said.
“Appreciate all the love, appreciate all the support, everybody who texted, everybody who posted, everybody who tapped in, watched USA all the way.”

Steph Curry leads Team USA to gold

Steph Curry led the scoring effort with 24 points, while also contributing five assists and two steals.

The game was tight until the third quarter. Key plays from Victor Wembanyama and Evan Fournier kept the game close.

However, Team USA managed to hold onto a six-point lead heading into the final quarter, thanks in part to a corner three from Curry and a lob finish by Anthony Davis.

In the pivotal fourth quarter, Curry’s shooting from beyond the arc helped Team USA pull away.

Curry hit four crucial 3-pointers in the final period, including a step-back and a dagger over two defenders that extended the lead to 96-87, effectively sealing the win.

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker each contributed 15 points, while LeBron James added 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for Team USA.

Victor Wembanyama led France with a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds. Guerschon Yabusele added 20 points.

With Team USA securing the 11-point victory in the finals, they claimed the gold, leaving France with the silver.

Serbia, led by NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, took home the bronze after defeating Germany in the third-place match. Germany, led by Dennis Schroder, finished in fourth.

Rounding out the top five was Team Canada, which was eliminated early by France.

The teams finishing 6th to 12th were Australia, Brazil, Greece, South Sudan, Spain, Japan and Puerto Rico, respectively.
