Some fans wondered what jersey number James would pick. Since his father, LeBron, is wearing number 23, some speculated that the rookie would choose the number 6. However, the entire league decided to retire the number to honor the late Bill Russell, which means it can't be used anymore.
But the younger James had a bright idea of turning the number upside down and wearing the number 9. The Lakers will have two players with the same name at the back, one with the number 23, and the other with 9.
