Golden State Warriors star forward Draymond Green shared an instance where he prevented the front office from making a major trade recently. The Warriors are still looking to improve their roster this summer after the departure of their longtime star Klay Thompson. Green talked about how a trade was close to being finalized but he prevented it since it won't help the organization in the long run.

Making roster moves has never been easy. Usually, organizations gamble on making changes to the team in hopes of giving it a chance at possibly contending for a title.

Green recently appeared in "Club520podcast," a podcast hosted by former NBA star Jeff Teague. The four-time champion talked about how the Warriors were close to making a trade recently. The forward didn't think making the trade would help the franchise's future.

"We was about to make trades last week and I told them straight up, 'That trade help me. It'll help me right now in my career these last couple of years with Steph. But I've always spoken to y'all from a place for what's best in this organization. I won't stop now. That's a bad trade. Don't do that trade.'" Green said. "I disagree with it, although it's gonna help me right now."

Green didn't go into any specifications regarding which trade he advised the front office not to make. But there have been a few names that have been linked to the Warriors over the summer.

One player who has been mentioned repeatedly over the past weeks has been Lauri Markkanen. Other teams have been linked to Markkanen as wells. However, Tim Montemayor of the podcast "The Monty Show" shared that Golden State is the frontrunner when it comes to a potential trade for the star forward.

Draymond Green is happy for Klay Thompson

The Warriors will look differently next season as they won't have Klay Thompson on the team anymore. The Big Three has disbanded after Thompson signed with the Dallas Mavericks over the summer. While fans are dejected, Draymond Green feels the opposite.

The star forward wasn't happy to see his former teammate leave and join a different team. However, he was glad to see Thompson in a different situation compared to the one he had with the Warriors last season.

"He provided cap relief for this organization on his way out," Green said. "Got some picks sent back to the organization on his way out. And I believe in second-round picks. I got no choice but to believe in second-round picks. So I'm happy for him. I'm happy he left, because I did not enjoy at all seeing him the way I saw him last year."

Last season, Thompson struggled to be a significant factor for the team. The former half of the Splash Brothers averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
