The news surprised many. Fans were unable to comprehend how a team that was reportedly on the verge of trading LaVine was willing to now change course. A fan said:
“That’s embarrassing”
More reactions of a similar nature followed:
“Can’t trade him so they’re fixing their relationship," a fan said.
“BRUH. Bulls tried so hard to trade him, then they figured they can’t trade him, and now they’re mending fences? FOH,” another fan added.
There were also the few who sided with LaVine and put the blame on the Bulls.
“I promise LaVine is not the issue,” a fan said.
“Lavine aint the issue,” another added.
“He’s a top 5 sg in the league,” another fan said.
A few fans took shots at Bulls coach Billy Donovan and other players.

“The fact that Nikola Vucevic is still on the Bulls is very concerning,” another added.
Overall, there was a varying degree of reaction to the news. It remains to be seen what unfolds as we inch nearer to the new NBA season starting on Oct. 22.
Zach LaVine’s contract makes it very hard for Chicago Bulls to trade him
While it is a mystery if the Chicago Bulls are actually trying to find trade partners for Zach LaVine, his contract makes negotiations tougher. LaVine has three years remaining on his five-year, $215 million contract.
While LaVine is still a high level player, a weakness on defense and injuries have prevented the growth of his game. Last season, he played in just 25 games, where he averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He had a solid season in 2022-23, though, averaging 24.8 points in 77 games.
While LaVine has impressed at times and has two All-Star selections to show in 2021 and 2022, his individual success hasn’t translated into team success. Maybe a move to a team such as the Golden State Warriors helps his cause and growth, but the remaining value of his contract is bound to act as a barrier for a team that is trying to move away from paying a high luxury tax.
