Former NBA No. 1 overall pick Kwame Brown starred in a heated debate with former teammate Gilbert Arenas over LeBron James and his son Bronny. The two retired players turned media personalities clashed in Wednesday's edition of Brown's show "Bust Life."
Around the 8-minute mark, Arenas and Brown engaged in a back-and-forth regarding James and how his selection affected Quincy Olivari, who shined in the 2024 NBA preseason but couldn't secure a standard contract and has to share time between the G League and the NBA.
Brown questioned why the Lakers complied with LeBron James' desire to play with his son in the league, claiming that they did it because of all the money they could get from that move.
"He can't pick his son, he don't own a team. They're using his celebrity because he's cash cow and now Bronny is another cash cow. That's why I call 'em Homelander one and Homelander two, Homelander Jr. This is all about money," Brown said.

After Arenas admitted that LeBron indeed played a role in this draft selection, Brown shamed him.
"Y'all heard that, chat. He said it's his son, so Gilbert is admitting that he should be able to skip the line and guys that have 15, 16, 17, 18 points--Bronny James should skip those guys because he's LeBron James son. Now that's a shame, you admitted the quiet part out loud, so it's not nepotism, this is elitism."
A lot has been said about this situation, but neither the Lakers nor LeBron James are changing anything. Bronny is spending time with the South Bay Lakers but also around the main team, as they try to give as much first-team experience as possible.
Kwame Brown says Bronny James is affecting LeBron James' legacy
This wasn't the only thing Kwame Brown said about LeBron James and his son. In the same episode, he said that regardless of his great career, "King James" is running away from social media because of the backlash he's received over Bronny's career.
"This whole narrative with LeBron is to get accolades so he can be the GOAT," Brown said. "I think that keeps him up at night. I think that's the reason he's running from social media: because his son is a stain on his GOATship, and he should've never gotten a guaranteed contract."
This conversation always brings controversy, but even with LeBron away from social media, the discussions won't stop anytime soon.
