Duke Blue Devils guard Jared McCain is expected to be selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. McCain had a really good freshman season in Durham, averaging 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He's also known for painting his nails, something that he picked up from former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson.
In a pre-draft interview by the NBA, McCain was asked about when he started painting his nails and why. He explained watching Clarkson do it and began doing it himself. It has become part of his routine and he is ready with all-black nails for draft night.
"It was the beginning of COVID. I saw Jordan Clarkson do it and I decided to give it a try. The first color was lavender. It was the one I found in my mom's kit," McCain said.

NBA fans are ruthless sometimes and some trolled Jared McCain for painting his nails. He was even compared to Caleb Williams, the new Chicago Bears quarterback who gets his nails done as well.
"The Caleb Williams of the NBA," one fan wrote.
"First it was Rodman, then Jimmy Buckets, Then Caleb Williams, and now Jordan Clarkson," another fan commented.
"This is the whackest generation of human beings to ever exist," a fan claimed.
Other fans were just baffled why the focus of the interview was on Jared McCain's paint. They would have preferred to hear the prospect answer questions about basketball.
"Why not ask about basketball?" a fan asked.
"Ain't no way a basketball player is being interviewed about his NAILS," one fan replied.
"Y'all asked Bronny about Basketball. Why y'all asking dawg about his nails??" another fan commented.
Which team will draft Jared McCain?
Jared McCain currently stands at 6-foot-3 and can play both guard positions. McCain's main strength is his shooting, which is one of the most in-demand skills in the NBA. He's strong for his position and is an underrated on-ball defender.
His main weakness is his passing since he's not a playmaker. He's more of a scorer than a passer, but he will need to start learning how to share the basketball. Some of his NBA comparisons are Collin Sexton and Brynn Forbes. Derrick White can be his ceiling as well, but he will need to take his defense to another level.
But which team will draft the Duke product? He's currently projected to be in the middle of the first round. Some of the teams that could use him include the Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers. He recently worked out with the Kings, which is a perfect scenario for him since he's from Sacramento.
