One-time NBA champion and Basketball Hall-of-Famer Kevin Garnett hailed incoming Duke freshman Cooper Flagg as an NBA superstar in the making. NBA fans, however, were not entirely in agreement.
The Boston Celtics great shared his thoughts on the 17-year-old Cooper on the latest episode of the "Ticket & The Truth" on the All The Smoke podcast, which was uploaded on Sept. 20, highlighting how he sees the young hooper as a potential generational player who could be the next true superstar in the NBA.
"We ain't had no bad a** cold a** white boy like this in a long time."

Fans, however, were unconvinced, believing that it was premature for 'The Big Ticket' to declare Cooper Flagg as the next big thing in the NBA.
One fan did not mince words with his take on what Garnett said, writing:
"The king of dumb a** takes"
"'Really? In a long time? I guess he stopped watching NBA after he retired..." another user took 'KG' to task for his take.
"'I swear these guys just say stuff for engagement," a fan said questioning the motive of Garnett for saying so.
One fan took a dig at Garnett's take, saying:
"It breaking news everyone has said this already."
Then there were some who gave their own prospects for Copper Flagg as an NBA player.
"'Another Austin Reaves im afraid," a fan wrote, making a reference to the LA Lakers young wing player.
"'Nah, star definitely but no superstar," a fan categorically said.
"'He looks like he could legit be the best white American player since [Larry] Bird. But if we're talking about just being white, Luka [Doncic] and [Nikola] Jokic are already there. Both are better than KG ever was to be totally honest," another user explained.
"I guess Luka does not exist or Jokic." another fan added.
Cooper Flagg is set to play his freshman year at Duke this season, following a stellar high school career at Montverde Academy in Florida. For his versatility on both ends of the court, he is being touted as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Apart from Kevin Garnett, many in the NBA see the potential of Cooper Flagg as a league superstar after watching the Duke freshman battle it out against members of Team USA during a scrum as part of its preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Newport, Maine, native was one of 12 players selected to help the U.S. squad early in their Olympic preparation. He was, however, was the lone non-professional as the rest of the select team were either NBA or NBA G-League players.
Cooper Flagg showcased what the hype surrounding him was all about, making his presence felt on both ends and impressing many who saw him compete.
"'He's a special young man. His talent level , his basketball IQ, his level of toughness, not afraid of those moments, protect the rim, make the right play read. He had all that," Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said.
"'He wants to be great," Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns added."
With the USA Select Team, Flagg joined the likes of Jalen Duren (Detroit), Brandon Miller (Charlotte), Jaime Jaquez (Miami), Trayce Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski (Golden State), Jalen Suggs (Orlando), Keegan Murray (Sacramento), Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith, Jr. (Houston).
