Gaming and NBA fans are currently looking forward to the release of NBA 2K25, which is currently set for September 6, 2024. Each year, 2K Sports actively releases the player ratings for their upcoming games, which tends to throw in a range of surprises and disappointments for fans.

Recently, the player ratings for champions Boston Celtics was released, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way with ratings of 96 and 93, respectively. However, quite a few fans had things to say about a range of other ratings, most especially that of big man Kristaps Porzingis, who has been given an overall rating of 88.

While some fans thought that the rating was not high enough considering the kind of heroics Porzingis managed through the entirety of the last campaign, others thought an 88 was well-justified. One fan wrote the following:

“The KP slander IS INSANE.”

Another responded by suggesting that the rating was indeed well-deserved:

“How high do u want him to be 😭”

However, quite a few fans seemingly agreed with the original commenter:

“They have siakam and sabonis at 90 so at least a 91 lol.”

The fan also brought forth a range of other comparisons, claiming that Porzingis’ 3-point-shooting meant that he should have been given a higher rating than the 88 he got for 3-point shooting:

“This is actually fair and accurate.. but KP should be a 99 when it’s the 1st half of the first game in the finals.
“I think Porzingis deserves to be higher after his finals performance.
"Honestly jrue white and kp should be a bit higher and hot take brown should be 94 and Tatum 95," another fan added.

The consensus seems to be that Porzingis was indeed robbed, and deserves a higher rating than he ended up getting.

NBA 2K25 promises multiple new features and improvements over the previous iteration

2K Sports recently released a gameplay trailer that exposed the kind of improvements that fans can expect to see in the upcoming game. Set for a September 6 release, NBA 2K25 is set to include ProPLAY, which has been described as the "biggest update to the gameplay engine in 15 years."

The new feature allows for 9000 new in-game animations and a brand new revamped dribble engine, which is set to increase realism with player animations and gameplay mechanics.

Further, Mike Wang, Gameplay Director at Visual Concepts, shared the following about the upcoming iteration:

"Realism, customization, and freedom are the key drivers behind this year's gameplay updates. Enhancements powered by ProPLAY inject a sense of energy, immersion, and, most importantly, authenticity to our game. The gameplay puts an unprecedented level of control in the player's hands to fully personalize how they dribble and shoot the ball."

Of course, there are a range of new features set to be a part of the game, including shot canceling and the introduction of signature go-to-shots. The latter will enable gamers to pull off the various moves of actual current and former NBA stars.

With Jayson Tatum, A’Ja Wilson and Vince Carter announced as the cover stars for the upcoming game, fans can expect a range of improvements in NBA 2K25.
