After receiving D'Angelo Russell in a trade, the Brooklyn Nets now have two former All-Star guards on their team. Aside from Russell, the other ex-All-Star is Ben Simmons, who earned three straight All-Star nods from 2018-19 to 2020-21 as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

This is not the first time that Russell and Simmons are sharing the court as teammates. The two were high school teammates at Montverde Academy and some highlight footage of them playing together has resurfaced now that they're reunited.

The video of them playing together in high school and being reunited with the Brooklyn Nets has caused a stir, with some fans trolling the reunited duo.

Meanwhile, other fans could not help but reminisce upon seeing D'Angelo Russel's and Ben Simmons' highlight tape.

The Nets acquired D'Angelo Russell, guard Maxwell Lewis and three future second-rounders. In exchange, Brooklyn is sending forward Dorian Finney-Smith and guard Shake Milton to the LA Lakers.

Ben Simmons was sent to Brooklyn from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022 along with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond as well as two first-round picks (2022 & 2027). In exchange, the Sixers got James Harden and Paul Millsap.

This is the second time that the LA Lakers traded D'Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets

The statement "history repeats itself" holds true for Brooklyn Nets guard D'Angelo Russell after his most recent trade. After spending his rookie and sophomore seasons with the LA Lakers, he was eventually traded.

That trade happened ahead of the 2017-18 season and it sent the young guard to Brooklyn along with Russian center Timofey Mozgov. Just like with the more recent trade, LA got a defensive stalwart in exchange. That player is Brook Lopez, who is known for his elite shot-blocking and rim protection.

Additionally, the Lakers also got the draft rights to Kyle Kuzma. Lopez's stint in LA did not last long as he ended up joining the Milwaukee Bucks the very next season.

Meanwhile, Kuzma played four seasons with the Lakers (2017-18 to 2020-21). He played a role during LA's title run in the 2020 NBA Playoffs. He averaged 10.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 21 games in the postseason that year.

As for D'Angelo Russell, he earned his first and so far, only, All-Star selection with the Nets in 2018-19.
