"There was a little magic in the air" - Magic Johnson amped after Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary pass leads Commanders past Bears

Magic Johnson was a happy man after his team, the Washington Commanders, pulled off a thriller on Sunday. QB Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary pass to Noah Brown as the clock ticked down saw them clinch an 18-15 win. The former LA Lakers legend, now one of the minority owners of the football side, couldn't contain his excitement as he watched the dramatic sequence unfold in the game's final seconds.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Johnson gave Daniels and Brown their flowers.

"OMGGGG!! The Hail Mary pass from our quarterback Jayden Daniels to Noah Brown with no time on the clock ended up working for my Commanders!! An incredible 18-15 win! I’m so proud and thankful for Jayden Daniels stepping up to play after his rib injury and leading us to victory. There was a little magic in the air!!"

Daniels, who came in as an injury doubt before the game, finished with 21 of 38 completions for 326 yards, one touchdown, and no picks. The win now sees the Commanders lead the NFC East 6-2. To add, the 52-yard completion was also the second-longest of the game for the QB, who had earlier found Terry McLaurin in for a 61-yard gain.

As for Magic Johnson, the Lakers legend will be mighty pleased with Washington's run so far this season. He will hope that the Commanders can be just as good when they play the New York Giants next.

Magic Johnson joins the ownership group for another Washington franchise

Earlier this year, Magic Johnson expanded his business portfolio by joining the ownership group of the Washington Spirit — a DC-based women's soccer franchise. Speaking about his decision, Johnson said he was looking for another title to add to his cabinet.

"You know me, I love sports. I love to be in ownership because it’s important that [the players] see minorities in an ownership position. But the main thing, too, is that I love helping the athletes transition from their sport to hopefully business or whatever they want to do after their time being an athlete. We want to win championships, I want my 15th now."

Johnson holds stakes in five professional sports franchises, including the Lakers and LA Dodgers. The Lakers icon is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. The guard averaged 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 11.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per contest while shooting 52.0% from the field and 30.3% from the three-point range.
