Paul George led the Philadelphia 76ers to what could be their most significant win of the season, ending a seven-game skid with a thrilling 132-129 upset over the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday at Wells Fargo Center.
George delivered a standout performance, scoring 30 points on efficient 11-for-21 shooting, including six 3-pointers, while grabbing five rebounds. Tyrese Maxey added to the offensive firepower with 29 points and seven assists.
Paul George's strong showing had 76ers fans buzzing, marking his third 30-point outing of the season and helping Philadelphia hand Cleveland its second consecutive loss.
“They was calling him washed,” one said.

“Finally played like he deserved that money,” another said.
“Unc still got it,” another commented.
The 76ers signed Paul George to a four-year, $212 million deal in the offseason, making him their marquee addition.
"He showed up. Hope that's a sign of good things to come,” one commented.
“Stay healthy P,” another said.
The game reached its climax in a thrilling fourth quarter. The Cavaliers held a six-point lead before the 76ers mounted a comeback, establishing an eight-point advantage of their own. Cleveland managed to close the gap, coming within one possession of tying the game, but Philadelphia held firm.
With Joel Embiid sidelined for the 10th consecutive game due to knee swelling, the 76ers found contributions elsewhere. Kelly Oubre Jr. dominated inside with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Guerschon Yabusele added 12 points and 13 boards. Eric Gordon and Justin Edwards chipped in 15 points apiece.
Cleveland’s backcourt shone despite the loss. Donovan Mitchell erupted for a game-high 37 points, with Ty Jerome and Darius Garland contributing 33 and 26 points, respectively.
Paul George talks about Joel Embiid’s absence
Joel Embiid’s extended absence remains a concern for the 76ers, who have struggled to find consistency without their star. Speaking earlier this month, Paul George emphasized the importance of prioritizing Embiid’s health over pushing him to play.
"I mean, first and foremost, we want everybody to be healthy and at their best," George said (per SixersWire). "So if big fella needs tonight or if he's dealing with a nagging injury, we want him to rest as much as possible and be ready when we really need him.”
“So going into it, I already knew there'll be moments where the big fella is not out there. This locker room knows that we got to play better. We got to play together and we got to fill the void of big fella not being out there."
Despite the victory over Cleveland, the 76ers’ playoff hopes remain uncertain. At 16-27, they sit 11th in the Eastern Conference, battling with the Chicago Bulls for the final play-in spot.
