NBA fans reacted to Air Jordan announcing taking care of Jalen Hurts' fine. The Philadelphia Eagles star was fined $5,628 after violating the NFL's uniform policy during Sunday's duel against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The veteran quarterback wore a pair of Jordan cleats with different tones of green, which got him in trouble with the league. He was fined more than $5K over this in-game fit, as the league explained that he didn't wear the Eagles' constitutional team colors.

Air Jordan had a strong response to the fine, saying they would get it with a daring message.

"We’re paying the fine. You can’t ban greatness," the company said in a statement.

Fans reacted to the news, with some recalling that Nike did the same with a rookie Michael Jordan when he started wearing the Retro 1, and the NBA started fining him for the same reason Hurts was punished for. One posted on Instagram:

"Dumbest s**t I've read, they did this w MJ, look how it turned out"

Another fan criticized American leagues for fining everybody and overlooking other issues.

Others said that the Eagles have a uniform with the same color Air Jordan used in one of Hurts' shoes, which makes it odd that he was fined for it, while others questioned if players wearing Grinch shoes (red and green) will get the same punishment.

One fan said that the rest of the league is jealous of the Eagles, hence they are being targeted by the league.

Following Air Jordan's response, it remains to be seen if the player will keep getting fined by the NFL in the future. At least he has the support of the company if they plan to keep giving him the same type of shoes.

Air Jordan, Nike have challenged sports leagues more than once

While this is interesting for fans, it's not the first time Jordan Brand or its parent company, Nike, have made this type of gesture.

In 1985, the Oregon-based company had paid Chicago Bulls' Michael Jordan fines during his rookie season, which brought a lot of attention to the brand and made the Air Jordan 1s a cultural icon.

The Jordan Brand has worked to protect the individuality, self-expression and greatness of its athletes and customers. The monetary hit might not be much, but the gesture could go a long way.
