Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has styled his hair in various ways over the past few seasons. However, he rarely stuck with a look. In fact, he seemed to enjoy pranking the media by styling his hair in a quirky way for the team's media day before returning to his usual style in time for the regular season.

Butler had a different look again in the Heat's preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday.

Butler's new hairstyle drew a mix of reactions, with some fans roasting him for it.

"This dude never serious till it's April," one person wrote.

"This should’ve been his media day hairstyle," one person tweeted.

Meanwhile, several Miami Heat fans pointed out that the hairstyle was not new for Jimmy Butler.

Whether it was intentional or not, Jimmy Butler performed a rug-pull by not having a crazy hairstyle for this year's media day.

Jimmy Butler first trolled the media before the 2022-23 season. During media day in 2022, Butler showed up with hair extensions that reached below his shoulders. That look did not last long as he immediately reverted to his short hair before the preseason games began.

Then in 2023, Butler showed up with an emo hairstyle. He also went the extra mile as he fully embraced the emo look with accessories. He showed up with piercings on his lip, his nose and his eyebrows. Additionally, he painted his nails black to complete the look.

Aside from having the full emo look, Butler also fully leaned into the emo persona in his interview. When a member of the media asked him about his new look, he said that it represented his emotional state.

Later on, his teammate Bam Adebayo also played into the joke. When the media asked Adebayo about Butler, he said that Jimmy was simply misunderstood.

Similar to his long hair from 2022, Butler's emo look was gone by the time the Heat's preseason games began.

This year, fans had the opportunity to bet on Butler's media day look. Among the options were bald, an Afro and pigtails. When his team's media day started last month, Butler was nowhere to be found after his flight back to Miami was reportedly delayed.

His not being there on time likely added to the anticipation of his new look. However, he showed up with his regular look. When he was asked about it, Butler said that there would be no shenanigans this year and that he was just happy to be back after the travel delays.
