Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan Anthony, is set to announce his college decision on Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET, and fans are eagerly awaiting his choice. The buildup surrounding Kiyan’s decision has sparked comparisons to the excitement that surrounded LeBron James’ “The Decision” in 2010.
Kiyan’s announcement will be streamed live on YouTube through Carmelo’s "7PM in Brooklyn" channel.
The younger Anthony had narrowed his choices down to Syracuse and USC. His father, Carmelo, played one year at Syracuse, leading the team to a national championship and winning the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player award before entering the 2003 NBA draft.

"This feeling like the 'LeBron Decision,'" one fan said.
In July 2010, LeBron James made a game-changing decision, announcing that he would leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat in a televised special called "The Decision," which was watched by millions and ignited heated debates in the basketball world.
As Kiyan Anthony's announcement approaches, fans remain divided on which school he will choose.
“We all know he’s going to Syracuse just dragging this out,” one said.
“Why do I feel like Kiyan is my nephew? Very proud and excited for the kid. It's that Brooklyn love.... want the kid to succeed,” another added.
Some fans argued that Kiyan should choose Syracuse to honor his family’s legacy, while others believe USC would offer him a better chance at success.“USC Trojans @kiyananthony you should soar there. Syracuse is fine for Legacy if you want to build there but think about a good solid team you can build with,” one said.
“We all kno where we want him to go,” added another.
Others suggested that USC might be the better option for Kiyan to avoid the pressure of living up to his father’s legacy.
“I feel it’s goin be USC.. less pressure to live up to,” one said.
“I’m rooting for Syracuse but he going to USC for a change of scenery,” another said.
Carmelo Anthony doesn't want Kiyan Anthony to be a one-and-done in college
Carmelo Anthony has made it clear that he doesn’t want his son Kiyan Anthony to follow the "one-and-done" path to the NBA, stressing that he wants Kiyan to focus on his development rather than rushing into a professional career.
In a February episode of the "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast, Carmelo shared his thoughts on his son’s future, saying he hopes Kiyan doesn’t take shortcuts in his basketball journey or in life.
“My son is going to college," Carmelo said. "I don't even preach one and done to him. We’re not even playing that game because I don't even want you to start thinking that right now.”
“You start shortcutting s**t and you start rushing s**t, we ain't rushing nothing. You go to college. If you have to stay for two, if you have to stay for three, we go to college. We adapt as we go, if you're ready to go after your first year then we'll look at it."
Kiyan Anthony is considered one of the top shooting guards in the class of 2025 by ESPN and various other recruiting platforms.
