While NBA players like Nikola Jokic and Josh Hart are considered to be generally well-known athletes in the United States, Olympian Noah Lyles isn't familiar with either player. After saying in an interview with Shannon Sharpe that he didn't know who Nikola Jokic was, Lyles said in a video for GQ that he didn't know who Josh Hart is.
The situation unfolded during a video for GQ, where Lyles read a few posts on X, formerly known as Twitter. He first began by reading a post from NFL player Tyreek Hill, who challenged Lyles to a 50-yard race. Lyles responded, saying that Hill challenged him, and thus is in no position to implement his own rules.
Lyles then read a post from an individual saying that track is the hardest sport to go pro in before reading a post from one who watched him during the Olympics, hoping to see him lose.
In response to the critic, Knicks standout Josh Hart defended the Olympian, saying that as an Olympic gold medalist, Lyles can talk as much as he wants. When a person behind the camera asked if Lyles knew who Josh Hart was, he responded:

"No (I don't know who he is). I appreciate it."
NBA fans were quick to crack jokes about the situation.
Others kept the criticism coming:
Noah Lyles dubs Team USA world champions after NBA stars lead team to Olympic gold medal win in Paris
While Noah Lyles went viral last summer after reposting a post poking fun of Team USA's loss at the 2023 FIBA World Cup last summer, Lyles couldn't deny Team USA's status as world champions after their gold medal win in Paris.
While speaking with media members following the Olympics, Lyles praised team USA, dubbing them world champions after previously calling out the NBA for crowning their champions as world champions.
"It's not a thing of if I consider or not. It's...they are. They're Olympic champions and in the Olympic champions you face the whole world."
"And they saw how difficult it is, and of course they came out on top and of course I knew they would. Because we have some of the greatest athletes but they saw you can't just slap everybody together and say 'This is a great team.'"
On the flip side, NBA players showed Lyles respect after the Olympics as well. As Josh Hart explained on he and Jalen Brunson's Roommates Show, he really wanted to see Lyles lose. Because of the unprovoked shots, Lyles took at the NBA, Hart felt as though all of "NBA Twitter" banded together to hate on Lyles.
After watching the runner win gold in the 100 meter race, though, Hart gave Lyles his props.
From the sounds of things, Lyles didn't hear Hart's comments before reading Hart's post of support in this week's GQ video.
