High school star AJ Dybantsa recently expressed interest in playing alongside Victor Wembanyama.
Dybantsa is projected to enter the 2026 NBA Draft as the number 1 pick. Aside from the San Antonio Spurs, Dybantsa also named the Orlando Magic an ideal landing spot. The high school star's statement went viral on social media, and fans couldn't help but share their thoughts on the young player's aspirations:

"At this rate, Orlando will be drafting in the bottom 4-7 picks of the first round next year and I’d be shocked if the Spurs aren’t a playoff team by then, so unless he doesn’t pan out, he’ll likely be going elsewhere."
Here are some other reactions on X:
"Why’s anyone asking him that anyways ? Anyone that follows the nba knows how much changed in 2 years. Magic def won’t be picking top 10 and spurs prolly not either," one pointed out.
"Neither of those teams will be bad enough to draft him lol," another pointed out.
"Kid better prefer the Wizards and Jazz real quick," one said.
"Yeah, that's not happening. Neither Orlando or San Antonio are going to be in the lottery in the 2026 draft," another said.
Is it possible for AJ Dybantsa to play with Victor Wembanyama?
The 2026 NBA Draft is a long way from now. High school star AJ Dybantsa is projected to be the top pick that year. Let us find out if it would be possible for the Spurs to get him on their roster.
Firstly, San Antonio's current situation is not as dire. Given their current placement in the Western Conference, they may be out of the NBA Play-In Tournament. However, it seems that the Spurs organization is truly trying to build a team around Victor Wembanyama. The addition of Chris Paul earlier this summer clearly indicated that.
Despite a 12-12 record, as of the time of this writing, their record isn't too far off compared to other potential playoff contenders such as the Phoenix Suns (12-11), Minnesota Timberwolves (12-11), or the LA Lakers (13-11). With that in mind, there's still a huge possibility of them competing in the postseason this year.
Hence, Dybantsa will likely have to settle for a different team. It seems that the only way for him to play in San Antonio is through a trade.
