“This one is for my father”: Miami Heat share Dwyane Wade’ heartfelt tribute for Father’s Day

Dwayne Wade gave an emotional tribute to his father Dwyane Wade Sr. in his Hall of Fame induction speed in August. And on Father's Day on Sunday, the Miami Heat posted the video of its legendary star on its X handle.

"Bringing back this emotional moment from Dwyane Wade's HoF speech for Father’s Day," the Heat posted.

Wade’s speech that paid tribute to his father was one of the most memorable moments on the HoF podium. The Miami Heat legend recalled his father pushing his younger self and helping him put in the proper work.

“When I would cry and say I can’t, you would make me go harder,” Wade said. “You pushed me to limits that I didn’t know were inside of me. The hard work I put in was because I didn’t want to let you down.”

The three-time NBA champion continued to credit his father.

“We had the same exact dream, and we carried the same exact name,” Wade said. “To know we hustled, all the way to the Basketball Hall of Fame, is God’s will.”

Later, Wade Sr. appeared on “The Why with Dwyane Wade” podcast and shared his thoughts on his son's legendary speech. He said that the speech had opened the door for all the fathers in America.

Wade Sr. also said that when he got home after the party, he watched the speech over and over again and cried for four hours.

Dwyane Wade delivers Happy Father's Day message

Dwayne Wade also wished his father a Happy Father's Day on Sunday, sending a shoutout to his father on his Wine Cellars' social media handle.

“Let’s hear for the dads! Happy Father’s Day!” Wine Cellars posted.

Dwyane Wade has carried his father’s parenthood gene, supporting his children and helping them achieve their dreams.

With his daughter Zaya Wade, the former NBA star has not only learned to be a better father but he has also educated himself on gender issues. Zaya who came out as a transgender when she was 13 and received support from her parents. She has risen to become one of the biggest young voices for the transgender community.
