Amid the ongoing wildfire in Los Angeles, Denver Nuggets star Russell Westbrook's wife, Nina Westbrook, took to Instagram to share a note of gratitude for those working to put an end to the disaster. In the post's caption, Nina shared that her family is safe and sympathized with those affected while also conveying a word of hope.

"My family is safe, but our hearts are heavy for those in LA who have lost so much to the fires. The time to rebuild will come, but many of us are still in shock, restless, and anxiously awaiting news of relief. For now, please pray and check in with loved ones about their immediate needs during this crisis. Thank you. 🖤," Nina wrote.

The wildfire disaster in Los Angeles, which started on Tuesday, has forced the mandatory evacuation of over 150,000 residents and has reportedly claimed at least 16 lives. The wildfire quickly spiraled into catastrophic scales due to a combination of high winds and dry conditions in LA and reportedly spread over an additional 1,000 acres in the past 24 hours.

Russell Westbrook's wife Nina Westbrook cheers on UCLA with their children

Russell Westbrook's wife, Nina Westbrook, attended the UCLA Bruins' game against the Michigan Wolverines on New Year's Day with their children. The No. 1 Bruins defeated the then-No. 24 Wolverines 86-70 at Pauley Pavilion.

Nina Westbrook grew up in Los Angeles and played for the UCLA women's basketball team during her time there from 2007 to 2011. She met Russell Westbrook at UCLA, who also played for the Bruins from 2006 to 2008 before being drafted into the NBA.

In a previous interview with Access Hollywood in 2020, Nina talked about how the duo played together at UCLA and recalled that she used to beat the Denver Nuggets star in pickup basketball games.

"The beginning of our relationship was really fun," Nina said. "We used to play together all the time. I'd beat Russell in one-on-one. I had to stop playing him because he became a cheater. If the only way you can beat me is by cheating, we don't need to play anymore."

Nina and Russell Westbrook married in August 2015 and welcomed their first child, their son Noah, in May 2017. The couple welcomed their twin daughters, Skye and Jordyn, in November 2018, to complete their family of five.
